Colleagues and students
Within a short space of time the entire world finds herself battling with the scourge of coronavirus. Many countries. the whole world over are under the necessary lockdown, with schools closed. Since March 18, our students are confined in their homes and the teaching staff followed suit on March 20, and the rest of the staff left the school for their homes on March 26, when the lockdown started, and will only return when the lockdown is over.
Our lives and routines are hugely affected and adversely altered. We should appreciate the leadership of our country for taking the bold decision to introduce the lockdown to save lives through minimizing the spread of the virus and at the same time curb the curve of both infections and fatalities.
I wish to encourage all my fellow workers and students to keep up the hope that things will change for the better, but for now we should gather courage to face this difficult time with hope that is welled up in our faith in God, knowing that God is full of compassion and will surely come to our rescue. We should pray for scientists to find the cure, and most importantly the much needed vaccine.
Amidst all this, I encourage our teachers to continue to send tasks to be uploaded on the school’s website for the students to keep working on their studies. Those of you who are offering lessons on WhatsApp, I encourage you to continue with the good work. The students who have decided to offer lessons to fellow students on social media, are highly appreciated and commended for the good work.
I thank Mr. Chessworth Mawarire for his facilitation role even though he is also operating under lockdown in Zimbabwe.
To Risuna Risimati and Berewala Pratham, I take my hat off to you for keeping the Matric class of 2020 connected. You have really proved that students can take a leading role in your own learning and that of your fellow students. In you two, I see students who deliberately and intentionally choose to help fellow students live the potential. I have no doubt in my mind that God who is the rewarder of mankind will reward you for your selflessness. Thank you.
To Emily Bristow, thank you for taking the role of managing our website, and most importantly the role of uploading tasks on our website for all our learners to keep focus on their studies.
Lastly I encourage you all to observe and abide by all the lockdown regulations, and in this way you will be protecting yourself and others against the coronavirus. Stay safe at all times.
May our Father in heaven, who is full of compassion bless you all, and most importantly our country South Africa and her leadership.
